SMS

SMS is a leading retail company in the Faroe Islands, with its roots dating back to 1977. SMS operates, among other things, eight Bónus low-price stores in various locations across the Faroe Islands, as well as the large store Miklagarður in Tórshavn, which sells both food and specialty items, such as toys. Miklagarður also runs meat processing for the SMS group. In Tórshavn, four smaller grocery stores operate under the name Mylnan, and the company also runs a bakery and cake-making business for the group.

SMS is also heavily involved in other activities, including operating the largest shopping center in the Faroe Islands and a number of restaurants. Four of the restaurants are located in the shopping center, namely Burger King, Sunset Boulevard, Sushi Daily, and Hornið. Additionally, two steakhouses under the name Angus Steakhouse operate in Tórshavn and Klaksvík.

SMS also runs other stores and services, both through its subsidiaries and associated companies. Notably, it operates the retail stores Rumbul and Sheep, which sell various everyday products at favorable prices, with SMS owning 60% of the companies. The associated companies include the fitness center Burn, the ice cream and dessert maker Omaná, and the shoe store Demmus, where SMS owns 50% of the shares.

SMS places a special emphasis on always offering customers affordable food options while continuously developing its retail operations to ensure a good customer experience.

SMS owns a diverse real estate portfolio of approximately 11,000 m², primarily used for its own operations, but partly leased to third parties. Nearly 700 people work for SMS and its subsidiaries, in almost 290 full-time positions.
