Hagkaup is Iceland's premier department store with a world of products in stock. Since its founding in 1959, Hagkaup has been synonymous with quality, variety, and convenience.

Hagkaup has become a cornerstone of Icelandic retail since its humble beginnings as a mail-order business. In 1967, Hagkaup opened its first storefront at Miklatorg in Reykjavík, followed by the iconic store in Skeifan in 1970—a location that remains a hub of activity to this day.

Hagkaup prides itself on delivering an extensive selection of goods you will not find anywhere else. From knitting supplies to LEGOs and rain gear to gourmet cheeses for a dinner party, Hagkaup is the ultimate shopping destination. The grocery department boasts an array of approximately 10,000 products, supplemented by over 30,000 specialty items, including seasonal goods. Moreover, the specialty department showcases an eclectic mix of reasonably priced products that discerning shoppers won't find elsewhere.

With seven stores nationwide, including five in the greater Reykjavík area and one in Akureyri, Hagkaup is never far away. Plus, for shopping convenience, two stores—Skeifan and Garðabær locations—are open 24 hours a day, ensuring that customers can shop whenever it suits them. Moreover, Hagkaup operates an online store featuring a comprehensive selection of cosmetics and toys, providing swift and secure delivery services nationwide.

Hagkaup offers consistent value and service across all its stores. No matter where you shop with us, you can trust that you'll receive the same great prices and unparalleled shopping experience.

Hagkaup has recently made significant efforts to address sustainability concerns, focusing on initiatives to reduce shrinkage and minimize food waste. Additionally, the company has prioritized decarbonizing its refrigeration and freezer equipment. As of 2023, all Hagkaup stores use environmentally friendly refrigerants.
